I am not enjoying this

Dec2920114:01 p.m.

Really, I just do not look forward to a run these days. I know we all have peaks and troughs but right now I am in a trench with vertical sides! I am still managing to go out for a jog but it is a chore and I have cut 2 out of the last 3 short as I could not be bothered.

2.7m - was going to do 4-5m on a run home from Tesco where Mrs K had dropped me whilst she went inside. The straight home route was (as it turned out) 2.7m, I meant to go round the houses and fields a bit to make it at least 4. Found myself heading straight home and stopped when I got there. And slow too. Very slow even for me.

Chichester Canal - this is a run I have meant to do for a long time, tried it once but after 1½m the towpath was fenced off for maintenance work so I could go no further. Today I tried again and the path was openall the way. But it was bloody muddy! And muddy means slippery too. Oh, and wet. Peeing down with rain but I am a runner so rain or no rain, I go. The path, as I found out, was only 2½m from end to end so it was a decent 5m run. Timewise wasn't too bad, I did it in 57min with a short stop once to cross a road (road on a canal? Yes. YHTBT to understand). I think it goes on about another mile but that is into the boatyard and I am not sure what access, if it is allowed, there is. Next time I will find out.

Open house - the traditional Christmas open house is on today. Most of the family gather at mine and we have a games night. It's something we have done for years and it gets everyone together at least once over the festive period except this year my dad and step mum won't be here as my 86 yr old Gran is a little too ill to travel. It  doesmean cakes, biscuits, sausage rolls, etc are on the table but I will behave (sort of) and stick to my fruit smoothies or diet coke instead of a few beers.

Almost time for the family to start arriving. Hannah (NO 2 daughter) has just arrived and the house is a noisy mess already. She's 20 yrs old!!

Never ever give up

It may be just the thing to refresh you. Enjoy!' added 30th Dec 2011
