I'm baaaack...

Jun2620119:44 p.m.

..but I doubt you missed me. I have been unable to log into RB for a while, my password was not being accepted and when I notified the good bods at RB (thanks for all your help Hannah) the new password they gave me was also being rejected. I haven't tried for a few days but decided to give it a go now and it worked! So...

Lost blog - I can't remember it all but the basics are a run (or two), plans and confirmation of my next race. Which is..

Sept 25th - The New Forest Half. I couldn't find a suitable half marathon in late July/August so this is the next best thing. It is the third time I have paid for entry into this one, in 2010 I was injured and in 2011, as many of you will remember and no doubt remind me constantly, I got all the way there to find my trainers hadn't. They were still at home! I won't forget next time.

Running - since my last entry I haven't really done much. Was going to run 5 miles on Wed but had a hypo at work so decided not to risk it. No food or money meant I would have run in a terrible state and wouldn't have made it. did run 3 miles on Thursday in 32.50. I was going to runin Friday but a shitty day at work and ill family put that idea on the back burner, Saturday we were at an all day football tournament (Mithcels team came runners up). I did intend going out when we got home but despite the overcast conditons and a gazebo I still manged to get sunburnt and didn't feel too good when I got home.

Sunday - I felt awful when I got up this morning. Tummy ache, headache, felt sick and needed a big toilet but it wouldn't come out.  (the rest of the family had it all week but theirs did come out, both ends). I eventually started to perk up about lunchtime and ate something then felt a lot better. I was ravenous when Mrs K plonked a roast dinner on the table about 2pm which I ate (and half of hers!) then I waited a while before taking the dog out for a walk. Now, at the weekend and if I don't run I take him for a long walk over the hill and far away. Today I went to a secluded little woods I know that has a path all the way round. As soon as I got there I wanted to run, so I did. 2.37 miles in just under 30 minutes, all on trails and through the shady woods with a nice cool breeze blowing. Still freaking hot though.

Plans - I now have my half marathon 12 week schedule ready to go. I fully expect to get a PB at this race (not hard is it?) but can I dip below 2:15? That is my target. And, seeing as I fully expect to be doing London 2012, I am stateing here and now that I intend to to do the Bralmey 20 (and not the 10) in February. As well as a few other half marathons and 10 milers. Oh, and the Promenade 5k which is this Wednesday.

Never ever give up

  • Jenny1961 'Nothing like a good old tummy bug for making you feel absolutely awful. Glad it seems to be over though. Your goals look good. And yes I do remember the trainer story! I'd forgotten it was you until you nudged our memories on FB!. I still haven't sorted out my post ultra goals yet. I know next year I do want to try out some different marathon courses like the South Downs and the Malvern course...not for pbs but just for the chance to run off road. (And up and down hills!). But I haven't finalised my late summer/autumn plans yet! ' added 27th Jun 2011

  • cath_b 'glad you have found a race. Hypos are very inconvenient. I had one at the gym which meant I consumed more calories than burnt - not the plan' added 29th Jun 2011
