It gets harder from here.

16th September Jog

No, I don't know what happened at the 6km mark too. It was pretty tough going due to that wonderousness of - yes - the dreaded right leg. It's strange because it's not like a pain which prevents me from running, but it's more like a niggling sensation. I did have some trouble around the 6km when I realised I shouldn't have brought a coat out with me due to the phenomenon known as "sweaty forearms". I've become something of a hairy beast in recent weeks with a full beard and the hairy chest which has been with me since birth. Well, maybe not since birth. Thing is that I was thinking about shaving my chest for the race..! Unthinkable.

Notice on the graph I also started at a slow "long run" pace, then stepped it up somewhat. Even with the mysterious trough in that graph, I still managed a respectable time which puts me under 2 hours for the whole race. I was thinking though that maybe I should just take it easy on the day and enjoy it. Sod times. Times are for the serious. Serious people shave their chests for running events like the GNR. Even the women! (Sorry...)

I'm in two minds about a short run tonight - may postpone it until tomorrow and do another short run on Friday - my last ever short run! Something tells me I won't miss running up vertical inclines with a backpack while the sun beats down onto me. I'm just annoyed that my body is apparently betraying me somewhat. It's tough going. What's also tough going is my fundraising. I was unlucky to be on the tail end of someone else raising money for a parachute jump in work - so I'm guessing people in the office are all out of charity? So far only 3 people in an office of about 80 have donated. As I say - tough going. I'm hoping it'll pick up next week, though I have a cunning plan to get more donations nearer the day.

It involves.... animation. I'll fill you in next week!

One more thing - if you want to support me and Macmillan and help raise some money for a very good cause, then please click on the button below! You'll also be in the running for a generous Macmillan goodie bag!!

Thank you! Hope all your training sessions are going well!
