Me and Lance Armstrong are like *that*

Sep0720072:19 p.m.

Before my tale of me and Lance, I'm playing catch-up with some of my updates for runs. Here's the first one I took on the 4th September with a rucksack on my back and a few hills to negotiate -

4th September Jog

Actually this was a lot faster pace-wise than I thought because I wasn't having a good time of it at all. Even though it was practically nighttime (no sun, yes!) and I had to keep an eye out for any misplaced paving slabs, I still have to stop and start too many times to wipe the sweat from my eyes. I did feel very comfortable running though, which was a great thing. Now for my run with Lance...

6th September Jog

Well, I say my run with Lance but his voice was the voice I heard when I completed what was basically the fastest 5k I've achieved so far this year with Nike Plus. I've ran a bit faster (24 mins) last year with the Nike Running lot, though this is a great achievement. No sweat getting in the eyes - again, another nighttime run and one which went smoothly. At one point I was amazed at the speed I was going but not feeling all that affected. I've also ran my fastest 1km during this - about 4.50! The right leg kind of ached the usual ache after it while I was warming down on top of a nearby road bridge, but once again I had that feeling of elation and excitement after completing the run.

I am starting to feel a little sad for the fact that my runs are getting fewer and fewer. Just seven more training runs and then no more running for me. I wish I could go on with running, but my right leg isn't letting me do the things which I would love to do. Getting old sucks. I also ordered a load of goodies from Macmillan as prizes for random donators. Feeling lucky? If you would like to sponsor me and be in with a chance of winning a stack of Macmillan stuff, then please visit http://www.justgiving.com/stevenpick/ and give what you can. Every donation helps and Macmillan and me will love you forever.

Hope your training is going well!
