Overview

Hi there!  For years i've shunned any kind of excercise stating many various excuses but 5 weeks ago i bit the bullet.  My first  time out 'running' was a shambles could barely walk or breathe let alone run!!!  Five weeks in and i'm loving it. Go out 3 times a week, early doors (5am!!!!!! ahhhh) just me and my music. Can jog/run for 25 mins now without stopping - i know hardly alot but i'm proud of me.  Going to keep increasing pace and would like to take part in a 5km run by end of year.  I love running in the rain (cools me down and hides the sweat -yuk) which is great cos we get loads in England. So if ever you see a fat girl running give her a big smile and blow her a kiss.

Well back out today running. Have been out of action last few weeks due to surprise problems with my gallbladder.  Started bout 3 weeks ago, i went to my doctor and A&E and was told that i had a gastric virus, after 4 days of the most immense pain i was taken to A&E (again), looking like a member of the simpsons!!! After tests and a lovely stay in hospital care of the NHS, they found that i had an infection and inflammed gall bladder chock full of stones.  I've never suffered from any problems before so it came as a bit of a surprise.  I am now going into hospital again on Valentines day to have it removed...how romantic....a date with a surgeon at a theatre lol.  On the plus side its making me stick to a very low fat diet so the weight is coming off i've now lost in total 31/2 stone and hoping to lose 4 stone by the time i go skiiing at the End of March...it will be the lightest i've been for at least 12 yrs if i do!!!  In the meantime i'm taking it slowly exercising and looking forward to my up coming date...

Havent posted anything for a while as have been a lazy ol girl of late.  Week before last went on a canal boating hol in Worcs, was great and did miles and miles of walking along the canal with the dog, not sure who was more worn out, me or dog.  Really enjoyed it, altho struggled a little cos i have a pathological fear of swans (evil evil evil things, shudder just writing bout them) and they seemed to be havin a swan convention along the canal we were on.  At one point my 10 year old son even had to come and rescue me as i stood rooted to the spot and shaking whilst one stood in front of me and the other was eyeing me up from the water .

Anyway enought bout them, since i came back from my hols have been extremley lazy and this has got to stop.  Am dragging out any excuse, too cold and too dark. Must get back into frame of mind as have nearly lost 3 stone and want to lose 4 stone by the time i go skiing in March next year (skiing is a whole different matter, i hate it with a passion, but family love it, so i have to show willing, which normally means spending first 2 days crying on the nursery slopes and being overtaken by 4 year olds, skive the 3rd day and spend the next 2 days really enjoying the nursery slopes but still being overtaken by 4 yr olds - think i should also add a pathological fear of skiing to list as well), plus i'd like to do another run in March (not sure bout distance, prob another 5k).

Off to fireworks this evening, i dont normally go as i'm the sort of person that that stray rogue firework normally ends up heading for and spends the rest of the eve in A&E.

Hope you all enjoy the fireworks

PS Sizz, i'm with ya in spirit honey x

Was woken before 7 this morning by my conscience shouting, c'mon fattie get outta bed just cos u've done your 5k dont think you can stop now.  Then my legs joined in and propelled my body outta bed.  At this point i felt it best to surrender.  So this is how i found myself back out there again pounding the pavements and bizarrely it felt good.  After a week of celebrating my achievements by doing no exercise apart from moving my hand to mouth and back to plate (u should feel the muscles in my right arm) i was back out there and it felt right.

Feel i should really be working towards a goal, but doing another 5k wouldnt feel enough of a challenge and a 10k far too scary at the mo - anyone know of a good 7.5k????

Was eldest sons birthday in the week, 10!!!!!! already!!!!!. Making me feel old, and i forsee that very soon we are going to run into a problem.  This year was the last 'real age' birthday i had (33 - but dont tell anyone), so next year i'll be 32, year aft 31 etc. Unfortunatly the children will not do this with their ages as well, so they will get older and i will get younger and at some point it will get a little embarassing. Sorry this is leading somewhere - so we've had lots of party food, choc cake, lovely high calorie, high fat things, crisps, quiche..i could go on but have started to dribble..around the house, and i hate to see things go to waste, so have been finding a good home for them...in my stomach!!!! - V BAD. So here is my solomn vow, that yesterday was my last day of sloth and food naughtiness and as of today, i'm back on track.

Well today was d-day, or 5k-day! Weather was good for running and there was a good turn out at the run.  Not sure about the course tho, it was advertised as a gently undulating course, well sorry but someone must have sneaked in and put two bloody big hills in, they certainly came as a shock and unfortunately developed a stitch so walked up these hills, was disappointed that i did this, but hey first timer. Rest of the run was ok, made it to the turn round point without stopping.  On the way back the people running the 10k caught up and gave me the encouragement to run the whole way back without walking, it felt great and the camaradary from people was fab! Plus it was mostly down hill hehe.  It was great to see my family at the finish line cheering me on which spurred me on to go faster.  I am pleased to tell you that i finished in 40mins, which i was very pleased with, as was hoping for somewhere sub 50mins but to knock 10mins off .

Sorry for boring the socks off you, just chuffed that i achieved this when in june couldnt run for more than 40seconds.  Well onwards and upwards, Hubby wants me to look at doin a 10k next year , a scary thought, tho will keep up the running and see how it goes, this isnt the end, its just the beginning.

First of all a HUGH WELL DONE to all of you who did the GNR today, your fantastic.

My own personal challenge of a mere 5k is looming (next sunday) i keep tellin myself, this time next week it will all be over and my humilation will be complete.

Went out running on Thurs and totally lost the plot, just couldnt do it, even if you'd put a large pint at the end the enthusiasm just wasnt there, it's not boding well is it.

Well head down for me now, just off to punish myself on the x crosstrainer for the amount of alcohol i consumed last night....not great for pre-run training oops.

My diet was going so well until today.  Infact was good up till bout 4 today (my weak time) when anything that was in my eye-line...4 mini muffins, 3 shortbread fingers, packet of crisps, few jelly sweets and bits of kids remainder of dinner....went in my mouth.  Oops.  Trouble was i knew i was doing it and told myself off after each naughty thing went in my mouth just couldnt stop.

Oh well back in saddle tomorrow....hopefully.

Well, went for my run.  Am secrectly quite pleased with myself (altho dont tell anyone).  Wanted to see how long i could run for in prep for the 5k i've got coming up.  Managed to run for 55 mins, could maybe have run for another 5 mins but had to run past my front door and it was just too tempting i couldnt run past it.  Managed a whole 5.7k or 3.5miles.  Have just been looking back to my first blogs i did at the end of june this year, i never thought then that i'd last this long at running. Well enough of boring you.
