I DID IT!!!

Oct0720078:48 p.m.

Well today was d-day, or 5k-day! Weather was good for running and there was a good turn out at the run.  Not sure about the course tho, it was advertised as a gently undulating course, well sorry but someone must have sneaked in and put two bloody big hills in, they certainly came as a shock and unfortunately developed a stitch so walked up these hills, was disappointed that i did this, but hey first timer. Rest of the run was ok, made it to the turn round point without stopping.  On the way back the people running the 10k caught up and gave me the encouragement to run the whole way back without walking, it felt great and the camaradary from people was fab! Plus it was mostly down hill hehe.  It was great to see my family at the finish line cheering me on which spurred me on to go faster.  I am pleased to tell you that i finished in 40mins, which i was very pleased with, as was hoping for somewhere sub 50mins but to knock 10mins off .

Sorry for boring the socks off you, just chuffed that i achieved this when in june couldnt run for more than 40seconds.  Well onwards and upwards, Hubby wants me to look at doin a 10k next year , a scary thought, tho will keep up the running and see how it goes, this isnt the end, its just the beginning.

Thanks for reading

Love Queenie x

  • SuperCaz 'That is so fantastic! Well done on not only completing your first 5k, but also for doing it in such a good time! Try to remember this feeling, it will help you get through any bad patches in the future, when the weather is bad and the training's not going so well. I think you are perfectly capable of doing 10k in the spring. Keep up the good work!' added 8th Oct 2007

  • awomaninsane 'That is fab news. Well done you. I know the feeling of doing a run and being so elated that you literally do bore the pants off anyone that will listen! You can tell us lot as many times as you want though! Dead pleased for you.' added 8th Oct 2007

  • Brooksy 'Great stuff ... hope you enjoyed it and are revelling in the achievement. Just think you have probably just run a greater distance than 99% of the population. It's not until you try these things do you realise how much work it takes. Look forward to hearing about the next big plan!' added 9th Oct 2007

  • sizzling_strawberry 'well done you - not seen so much of you blogging lately but great to hear that you have done your 5k. I too have decided that 10k would be a good goal for next year - compare notes?? Helen (also good to see that someone else does 5k in the same time as me - sorry but that makes me feel better - is that wrong??)' added 12th Oct 2007
