About

I started running in June 2007 and it has been a very stop/start experience mainly because I don't see myself as a runner but I like a challenge. &nbs...

Two contrasting runs

Nov23201111:16 p.m.

So busy at the moment , finding it hard to find time to blog and train!

We headed off to Centre Parcs last Friday morning but I had the small matter of a run to complete before we left.  Decided the best option was to  get up at 6.30am as still had to pack and loads to do.  Had a crumpet with banana and a glass of water and headed out about 7am for my 10K run.  Well it was a great run – really enjoyed it, I was on fire, probably because I was conscious that I had to be home asap.  10K completed in 1 hr 2 mins and 21secs - which was 10.03 pace.  This is super speedy for me and my fastest ever 10K to date.  I am pretty sure that I can now achieve that sub 1 hr 10K – just need to find a race somewhere soon!

Another milestone was achieved on Friday morning – when I reached my weight target for the year – 2 stone lost. Yippee – only taken 11 months! Just in time for Christmas where I can put it back on again!!

Had a fantastic weekend in Centre Parcs – decided not to take the running trainers.  Just relaxed and cycled and walked and swam etc.  I did also overindulge on food and wine for 3 days.  Quite surprising how quickly I was able to fall off the wagon and eat rubbish food and drink copious amounts of wines and beer! Oh hum – all good fun!

Eventually got home on Monday afternoon – too tired to run. So had to get up early again on Tuesday morning and fit in an interval session – supposed to be 50mins altogether. Felt very sluggish, legs did not want to work at all - in the end had to cut it short by 10mins – 4 miles completed but at 10.24pace.  Not sure why I had no energy – could be lack of breakfast beforehand or more likely the weekend over indulgence catching up!

Hoping to run tomorrow some time – could be 10pm  - the way my day is looking and also planning to run 10 miles this weekend but hubby away, so not sure how that is going to work either.

Happy running all.

  • Rob_Barber 'Personally, I reckon the lack of breakfast is the more likely culprit for the lack of energy. Great running for your 10k best though, fantastic - and in a race situation, all that extra adrenalin and other runners to chase down, yeah, I reckon will get there under the hour. :-)' added 24th Nov 2011
