19 miles (thanks to Ricky Gervais!)

Oct07200810:46 p.m.

Did 19 miles on Sunday. Felt like I could have done a couple more too.

For most of the 2hrs 48mins it took me to do the 19 miles, I had the Ricky Gervais podcasts on my ipod. They definitely made the task easier.

Found out today on the NYC website that I am in Wave start 3, which begins at 10.20am. This won't be too bad as long as I don't have to be down at the start line for 7am.

I feel like I can do it now, doing 19 was a definite mental boost for me!

Start spreading the news............

I was in wave 3 as well and got to trun on the top of the bridge with the spectacular views over on your left of manhattan island. I work at Great Ormond Street as well so thanks for choosing our charity, Have a great time and enjoy yourself, (really rather jealous!!) Have a good one Lucy.' added 9th Oct 2008

  • Shonab 'Hi Simon, I ran last year and was the last wave to leave, we still had to leave from the library in Manhatten before 7am, all advice was you needed to be on the buses early. I took two extra layers of clothes plus binliners to lie on or sit on, you throw these away before the race and they go to charity . While you wait, they have coffee and bagels on offer. The time seemed to pass quickly, but we didn't get started till nearer 11 am. It is a wonderful experience , good luck.and enjoy Shona' added 9th Oct 2008
