Good advice

Thanks Hilary, Phil, and Lucy for your advice on whether I should get the 4am bus, or try to make my own way there at a later time.
I think the general consensus is that I should get the bus, and just go with the flow.
You are all probably right about a lack of sleep the night before anyway, so I may as well get out of bed at 3.30am and get the adventure started!
I have one last big run to do this Sunday, I am going to try to do 22 miles; then that it basically it.
I did 13 last Sunday and a couple of 5's this week so far.
Not long to go now!!

Im definitely no triathlon expert so you might want to do some research but most people have a racing bike with a good number of gears. In the triathlon I did I didnt see any hybrids or mountain bikes (in fact a lot of the bikes looked VERY expensive) but if your aim is just to get round as mine was then as long as you have a bike that you can do 40km on then I guess anything is fine. The only thing is I think there is sometimes a rule that the bike must have a set number of gears ie no fixed bikes allowed but all depends on the local rules of the tri. Best of luck in New York.. If you happen to spot me amongst the masses in NY then please say hello and I will do likewise.. have really enjoyed reading your updates. Best of luck!' added 16th Oct 2008

hilaryjohnson 'Hope the 22 miles went well. It's great not to have to think about long runs any more - well, apart from the 'big one'! Have a great couple of weeks - stay injury and bug-free! Hilary' added 19th Oct 2008
