An actual Miracle!

Aug03200910:51 a.m.

Well that was a turn up for the books - what did I say?  40 to 45 mins for the swim - 43 mins actual, 140 to 145 bike - 143 actual - well the run was a big surprise - 1 hour 17 which to some might be slow but to me was brilliant - That's what it normally takes me when I just run - never mind the 1500m swim and 40km bike - so I am very pleased - a miracle happened and I finished in 3.57!

How was it?  Brilliant, fantastic, awsome - words can't explain how I felt at the finish - I had been very worried that I wouldn't be able to do it all and that I would be ill or something - you know go dizzy after the swim - it was fine although 1500m is quite a long way!

Bike was fine too - with new set up it felt so much better - it was hillier than I had been led to believe but the hills sort of flowed so didn't seem that bad, I had to brake going down which slowed me up I suppose and I had taped gell shots to my bike and couldn't get them off so I had to stop - better that than have no energy left!

So maybe olympic is my distance - being a plodder it doesn't matter so much about your speed it's about being consistent - and I was only 23 miutes behind exercise police's first oympic and he's a tall bloke with no boobs (not now anyway!) and I didn't look like death at the end - although photos of run suggest something else!

Would I recommend London - yes, yes, yes - it's expensive but it's so well run - loads of water - showers on the run, sports drinks and gells on the run and closed roads for the bike and a docklands flat run and loads of resuce boats for the swim (felt very safe) - so excellent!

So now just have to dedal with no skin on the back of my neck, 1 blister and a rub from the timing chip and my little toe hurts a bit - so not a bad result!
