I DID IT!!!!
Can't believe I finished actually!
Started off well and managed to run to the 13 mile point before I had to stop for the toilet (Wanted to go before the race but couldn't bring myself to use the womens urinals-snobby I know!). Unfortunately Once I had stopped that was it! I struggled to run to 15 miles and from 15 to 20 I had to run and walk. From 20 I felt I had to pretty much give up and began to walk. This was depressing! I felt completely alone (even though I was surrounded by 100s of people) and my legs and feet were killing me! Every time I got to a mile marker I told myself I would run but couldn't bring myself to do it! I felt I had let everyone down by not being able to run the whole thing! Luckily for me I saw my boyfriend at mile 23 who gave me the moral support and encouragement to keep going! Burst into tears when I saw him lol! Managed to run the next 2 and then saw my mum which helped push me the final mile! Seeing the finish line was like seeing an oasis in the dessert!
So my final time isn't a time that serious runners would be impressed with (6 hrs 10) but to hell with that, Im bloody proud of myself! I have raised over 1000 pounds for great ormond street for the small price of a few blisters and a sore foot a week later!
Thank you to all the kids that high fived me, all the people handing out sweets, fruit and drinks! Thank you to all the supporters! Thank you to the nice man Richard who chatted to me near the Cutty Sark!
Well Done to everyone that took part, the soldiers carrying the weights, the firemen in full kit, the man with a fridge on his back and everyone else!
Overall London 10 was the worst thing I have ever done in my life, but equally the best experience I have ever taken part in!
So, would I do it all over again? HELL YES!!!!

Raising my standards!
Ok so with Christmas and the seemingly never ending ice I am pretty far behind with my training. Nevertheless, I feel I reached an important point yesterday when I managed to do my 5 mile run wiithout stopping once. This may not seem very good to some of you more dedicated runners who haven't had practically a month off but for me it is an important milestone (or should I say 5 milestone) I have 3 more of these to complete this week and then my long run on Saturday which I am aiming to complete 8 miles without the stops!
After this week I really feel like I will be able to up my game with the training and really push myself!
Oh, it also helps that my asthma has pretty much become non existent!
Hope everyone elses training is going ok!
xx

8 miles of mud and puddles-nice way to spend a saturday!
So, today was the day i have been dreading, the grim challenge! We met up nice and early and shared a minibus up to aldershot. It started off a sunny day which lifted our spirits a bit. It was organised by my partners work, half of whom are serious runners and the other half are pe teachers so was pretty much expecting to be left for dust. The race started and tge very first hill made me need my inhaler so embarrassingly i had to stop (not even a mile in at this stage but it was a STEEP hill). Imagine my delight and suprise when i got to the top and two of the girls from the group had waited for me! At first i felt bad but they insisted it was just a fun run and they weren't worried about a time. Feeling quite uplifted i set off agaon with my supporters. we got to the first big puddle and instead of balancing round the edge like many others we decided to relish the puddles and run straight through. I immediately fell over pretty spectacularly and went right underneath in the process. We carried on stopping when we (pretty much just me) needed to stop. we had lots of fun on the way round what with putting camo mud on our faces and various falls ourselves and others were taking. At mile 7 my knee started to hurt and it became a real effort to get round. The girls grabbed my hands and eventually managed to drag me over the finish line. Our time was 2 hours and 6 minutes. I was actually pretty chuffed with this as it was really tough terrain and i am only used to roads. Also found out the course was actually 8.7 miles! am obviously really grateful to my new pals as dont think without them i could have finished in that time-and definitely not with the massive smile on my face. found out when we were getting changed the reason my knee was hurting-remember my fall in mile one? I had cut my knee open and it was pouring with blood-obviously the cold had numbed it. overall it was a really fun day and i will be doing it again next year. Did anyone else do it this weekend? Looking forward to getting back to familiar roads!Read post | 3 comments | 342 post views |
