Invest in Your Shoes

When you start a long road trip to a far away destination a smart thing to do is to check the car's oil, water and tire pressure. We all know that if the car is to make the long journey, having the car in tip top shape will ensure that we get there without mishap.
So as you begin to plan out your training program for the Columbus Marathon, perhaps you should do a quick check of one your most important pieces of equipment, your shoes. I would suggest that you visit your local specialty retail running and walking shoe store to get their advice on the condition of your shoes. Typical rule of thumb is to change out your shoes every 400 to 500 miles, but I would go further to say that you should have two pairs and switch them out every second day no only to prolong your shoe life, but also to avoid injury.
So as you plan your training this year, do not let the hundreds of hours of training go down the drain just because you failed to check the health of your shoes, investing in your shoes, means an investment in you.
Happy walking and running
