Click click click...

...that was the sound of my joints earlier this evening... but let’s go back to Monday first.

Seem to have recovered reasonably well from the 20 miler as woke up on Monday feeling pretty good.  Didn’t want to speak too soon as I have been susceptible to the delayed onset muscle fatigue thing that I am sure we are all very aware of, but nope, still ok today.  Knees don’t creak anywhere near as much as after Bramley, but I did feel a touch of the lunch time lock knee today, clearly been sitting for too long.

Am pretty tired still but I have been tired for so long now I don’t think that’s much out of the norm anymore. Yesterday I was still feeling pretty chuffed with my much improved effort and I had a day off work so had a nice relaxing day; today that haze has diminished and I have felt very tired all day, mostly because my neighbour decided they would stop me from sleeping by banging around very loudly at midnight – can’t they clean the bathroom at a normal time of day?  I shall be having words the next time I see them!Yell

Anyway, the prospect of running 5 miles this evening really was not that appealing.  The plan was to run it slowly about the same pace as Sunday... off I went to the gym. Definitely could not face 5 miles on the pavements, needed a tv to distract me.  Gym was packed!  The first time I’ve seen it like that.  The old crumbling gym is undergoing its much needed refurb so this new one is taking the overflow for the next two weeks. At least the weather is good so I won't have to spend much time there.

Used the xtrainer to begin with as that was the only machine free, then got on the treddie as soon as one became vacant.  Gosh, running definitely felt a bit harder today, I was glad to be on the lower setting.

I just plodded along and then I started to get a twinging hammy, it continued to twitch so after 3 miles, I stopped and went for a stretch... oooh that felt really nice.

I thought I’d do some cycling instead of run the further 2 miles but then my knee decided otherwise, so in the end I spent lots of time stretching.  I found stretching my hip flexors and hammy is helping with the knee issue immensely.  I then did some yoga triangle poses and boy was there a lot of clicking. Everything popped and felt really good, so I think stretching in place of the last two miles was well worth it.  Laughing

Don’t feel brand new, but don’t feel any worse for wear, so I guess that’s a good thing. I’m juggling my days this week, so no running tomorrow, running will have to wait till Thursday.

I believe the infamous orthotics have finally arrived so am off to catch up with the next stage of their travels.  Whilst on their travels, some people take a cuddly toy mascot, others take a can of baked beans; Simone – will you be taking your orthotics on your hols? Simone's orthotics by the Eiffel Tower...haha...I can picture it now - Orthotics balanced on top of the tower.

Oooh and this is my 100th post !  whopee! Cool  I also had my 1000th comment in my last post - so thank you everyone for reading my nonsense!!  Laughing  Just under 6 weeks to go!!

  • simonedumergue 'Great post Sabrina - you've summed up that tiredness so well. My knee always starts getting a bit narky if my hamstrings and ITB are too tight - since sorting them with my new foam roller everything is ticketyboo. Glad the stretching worked for you. Sounds like the gyms are filling up as people start freaking out about exposing their flesh for summer! LOL - pictures of my orthotics on holiday with me!!!' added 17th Mar 2010

  • glen_b 'I will mention it on a blog later, but I have ordered a foam roller, too many aching joints and muscles now! I did something similar this morning, decided to do my 4 miler as opposed to the 6, as my body was aching. The remainder of the time I spent stretching, to free up all the aches and groans! I am sure that method will have done us both good in the long run!!' added 17th Mar 2010
