CHAOS REIGNS!
Oct01200710:12 p.m.
I am probably the only blogger who will crticise the GNR but I honestly thought the organisation was poor and it is now TOO big for the area that it is set in........let me explain.
We came in on theA19 and only saw one sign to parking forthe GNR-ended up in a small village and went several back tracks before finding the parking at the finish line.
We went on the bus to the start and had at least twenty minutes to go to find our areas but that wasnt enough and before we knew it we were blocked out of our starting areas and had to go to the back! There was also long lines of seven foot screening along the sections so families couldnt see the runners!- what was that all about.
Okay so james and I set off- it took 29minutes to get to the start-whilst hubby took off to get back to the finish by shuttle bus and /or metro....it took him and hundreds of others 3HRS..............the system just cant cope with all the supporters. I finished before John got to the finish line.
So at the finish my tag is removed and I ask where my medal is-'over there' says the official...another hundred yards to walk where I am given a goodie bag.'But where is my medal?'....'In the bag'....'Oh no 'says I 'I havent done a race yet where I had to look for my medal,I'd like you to put it on me please and say well done' So she did!
As for the runners- well they were the salt of the earth as usual.Loads of fun and lots of'Why aye bonny lass!'
Would I do it again- NO- its too big for the area BUT I STILL HAD A GREAT DAY! WELL DONE TO US ALL.......................Terry
