Back after a long long break.........with bad news

Mar2420109:52 p.m.

Well people I am back after a long time away.  In fact my last blog I think was in the end of 2009.  However I am back and blogging away.  Unfortunately I have to bring bad news to the party. About 6 weeks ago I injured myself badly and have been suffering with achillies tendernitis ever since.  My training was going extremely well and was on for a good time.  To test my theory I decided to run the 26.4 miles and see what time i could achieve.  I was astonished by the time of 3hrs 4 min 22 secs.

However good my time it came at a cost and I have now been undergoing physio treatment for the last 6 weeks.  I do feel alot better than I had in previous weeks but am increasingly worried as to my future in the marathon.  I will run no matter what the result is, however it is my time that will now suffer and I feel I would have let all those around me down if i do not do as well as they expect.

However I am optimistic and thank god that I am healing quickly.  Who knows I may still set a good time yet.  But to end this blog today I wish all runners good luck and hope to see most of you at the registration day in the Excel Centre.

TTFN and if anyone has any miracle cures then please help!!!!!

  • Kendlef 'i had tendonitis - bloody nightmare. no miracle cure as im still suffering with it now. but my physio helped me a lot and i found i had to reduce the number of runs i did a week and up the cross training and rest days a bit to let it recover. hope it holds up for you. and if you have to slow down then maybe us mere mortals will stand a chance of seeing you. 3hrs 4 mins for 26 miles?? thats amazing!!! :D' added 25th Mar 2010

  • Mrs_Old_Bird 'Take it easy and please don't think that you'll be letting anybody down if you don't finish in a super-fast time! You'll be amazed at how may people will be in awe of the fact that you have completed the marathon, no matter what the finishing time is. Just one month now, so start tapering down, look after yourself, have a great time at the Expo and maybe see you at the start!!' added 25th Mar 2010
