Getting Started

Apr1920085:15 p.m.

After a spell of no running whatsoever (coinciding with bringing my cute new puppy Benji in to my home just over a month ago), a quick glance at the calendar last weekend made me realise with a gasp of horror that the BUPA London 10,000 is coming up much sooner than I thought! Time to get serious about training, I thought, and this week I've been getting right back in to it.

I've been finding it hard to fit in runs around two 20 minute puppy walks per day, but writing out a proper six week training plan really helped me to focus and so far I'm up to date with everything.

Here's how this week looked:

MONDAY
Cycle to work and back - 8 miles

TUESDAY
Run - 22 minutes / 3.2K + anaerobic/weights routine

WEDNESDAY
Swim - 30 lengths / 750m

THURSDAY
Run - 30 minutes / 4.2K + anaerobic/weights routine

FRIDAY
Day off

According to my training plan today I'm due to run for 40 minutes so, as I'm meeting friends at 6.30 for a cup of tea and a chinwag, there's not much time to get on with it. Off I go then!
