If you're running your first marathon or are a seasoned marathon runner looking for a quick time or personal best, then the real,- BERLIN-MARATHON is just the ticket, as it's an extremely flat and fast course.
Starting and finishing near the Brandenburg Gate, one of Berlin's most famous landmarks, the real,- BERLIN-MARATHON attracts a field of more than 40,000 athletes – who have been flocking here to run the 26.2-mile course every year since 1974.
 The course heads through the city, taking in some of Berlin's notable landmarks such as the Reichstag and Berliner Dom – and with more than a million spectators out in force to cheer you along the way, in addition to live music blaring out at over 50 locations, you're bound to be pushed on to achieve your own personal goal.
Such is the flat nature of the course, you'll be looking to record a fast time (provided the weather is kind) – although you'll have to put in a top effort if you want to beat Kenyan Paul Tergat's world marathon best time, which was set here in 2003. And running through the Brandenburg Gate just before the finish will probably prove as memorable a moment as crossing the finish line itself.
