Time to catch up...

Posted on: 01 Sep 2013

Well it's been a month since my last post and after two weeks in Rhodes soaking up the sun, food and alcohol, I've spent two weeks trying to get back some fitness.

With weeks of 35 and 40 miles it's felt like hard work and today's 5k race was tough! The good news in all this is that what we used to call the beginner's group has gone from  strength to strength.

With many of them not having run before joining the group at the end of April they've done brilliantly getting up to 4-5 miles and some have now done a 10k training run. Today for five of them was their first ever race at the 5k.

In today's race the Andrew took third place in 18:09 and Sarah was second in the ladies race in a new PB of 21:23. Derek got away from me in the last mile to finish 22nd in 22:46 and I was 23rd in 23:02.

Kirsty ran well for 23:59, followed by Dean and Michelle together in 28:20, Cheryl in 33:40, Karen and Mel in 35:41 and Judith and Gaynor in 37:48.

Following this weeks 40 miles I'm up to 1,309.48 for the year which means I'm around 75 miles short of where I need to be to reach 2013 miles so I need to start stepping up the miles and being more consistent.

And now I'm back blogging it might make me stick to it!

Happy running!
