Well, despite a debilitating two week head-cold and cough-fest I managed to get myself round the British 10k today, alongside my lovely daughter Emily - the first race we have run together, and good practice for the VLM, which we have both entered. I had a couple of coughing fits on the way round but in general felt ok and clocked somewhere around the hour mark. The race organisation was a bit naff at times but it was a big race around the London landmarks and the second half had a good atmosphere - it was a bit like the FLM, but much shorter!!!!
We had a six person team entered to raise funds for our Depression Support project at the charity I manage. So far we've been promised over 2K from this event, which together with a prize we've just won from GlaxoSmithKline, means a few more months of the service have now been successfully funded. Now it's on to the next fundraising event - a 5K in Woking organised for the Get Moving Campaign by our local mental health NHS Trust. It was encouraging to have three members of staff from Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust running with us today, including Chief Executive Fiona Edwards. Well done guys/gals!
Just in case not all you have reached sponsorship burn-out, it's not too late to give us some dosh!http://www.justgiving.com/cornerhouse-british10k/
