Training for another Half Marathon
Gauntlets:
1. Run a sub 30 5k parkrun ( my old pb was 32.01 in Dulwich and 34.06 in St Albans New PB set in St Albans 31/05/14: 30.41) Hope that sub 30 5k is getting nervous coz I'm coming for you.
2. Run the Hackney Half in less time than Silverstone (2:52:35)
3. Re-learn and practice Tai Chi 24 form (have the courage to perform it in the park one sunny morning without stressing or feeling self consious). [I have done it on the beach in Santa Monica why can't I do it in a park in London?]

Week 5 Mid-Schedule Peak
Rested Wednesday as per the program.
Thursday Time Trial 20-25minsNow as I had replaced the previous time trial session with a parkrun I thought I’d head over to Crystal Palace Park at 6.30am to have a go around the small track ...
Saturday 30th November – Parkrun. First time out in 10 days due to stupid cold (mucus monster got me). Blown my chance for the ‘chasetheplace’ as I stayed in bed hoping to chase the cold away. Then I had my final two weeks in my old job, so spent mo...
Took everyone’s excellent advice and have been concentrating on my training this week. (Due back to the old place next Tuesday to work out my notice). Sorry it’s a long one, but I’ve put my entire weeks training in one blog.
Tuesday 12th Nov - Steady ...
Sorry, nothing to do with training or fitness, but needed somewhere to vent my ire.
I'm assuming 'work' has accepted my resignation as I've just seen my job advertised on the Reed.co.uk website.
70-75mins Comfortable
Probably not as 'comfortable' as it should have been but I really only have one pace - slow and that depends on the gradient!
Cold and dry, lovely sunshine. Left a bit later than I'd have liked (8.20am) and headed towards Sydenham...
Bit nippy out this morning, but at least it was dry. Put my new gear on but had to keep walking about to stay warm at the start.
Watched everyone disappear around the bend, as usual, but carried on plodding along at my own pace. As I completed the f...
Steady 50mins
Dark start, dry underfoot. Decided to go to Crystal Palace Park again. Not exactly a steady run, but still a good 50 min session (not fast as a lot of inclines). Legs and feet ached from wearing high heels yesterday, but soon wore off....
3x7 hard followed by 3min recovery Warm up and cool down.
I don’t do fast, so decided to head for the hill and have a go at my ‘cunning plan’ again. So the warm up consisted of very slow trot to the foot of Crystal Palace Hill (ignoring the inviting op...
30mins Easy
My Daughter decided to join me for this one as long as we went to Dulwich park. So we left about 10.30 and headed over there in the car.
Beautiful weather again, slight breeze, sunshine, damp underfoot but fresh and clean.
Lots of fellow j...
60mins Steady
Had a lie in this morning and got out for 8am. Was inspired to try Crystal Palace park following Nick’s blog yesterday (Sat 02/11).
Weather was superb, crystal clear skies and air, touch of a breeze and cool sunshine.
Headed up the hil...
Saturday 2nd Nov (Rest Day!!)
Can’t believe that was my 9th parkrun! We had a record turnout this week 184 runners and guess where I came in.. yup 184.
I was very happy with my time (not a pb but still good for me: 36.54).
I think the parkrun in Broml...
Steady 45min
Today was a special day in the diary of the Monks family – my daughter “only time I’d run was if I was being chased by zombies” suddenly declared that she’d be happy to come for a run with me if we went to Dulwich park.
So she got up early ...
Okay, so my cunning plan (in true Baldrick fashion) didn't quite work out.
Programme suggested: Warm up, 3 x 7mins hard with 3mins recovery, Cool down. My cunning plan was to slowly head up the road to the top corner of Crystal Palace where the hill is...
Got my vest and two half marathon plans from The Children's Air Ambulance charity the other day (vest is a bit tight around the girth but hoping to loose some more of that in the next few months).
After reading through have opted for the Intermediate ch...
