So as usual its been a while since I wrote anything!

Christmas has been and gone and now its a new, icy year.

The good news is that with constant stretching and massage AND reverting back to neutral shoes my painful right ITB problems seem to be diminishing. With this and despite the ice and snow the New  Year has started well with several 7M + runs with no ITB problems.

Just prior to the New Year I did manage to fall off my bike resulting in the most strange ankle swelling I have ever seen. Several hours and an X-Ray later it was revealed that nothing was broken which was obviously a major relief.

So onto the last 16 weeks. Seems the last 4 months since I started this blog have flown by and I'm already starting to worry about running out of training time. Especially when my friend tells me she's already doing 15M and she's doing Brighton the week before. Really need this ice to melt now, either that or someone to lend me their gym membership........

So its been a while since I wrote anything.

Have been in the US from 12th October so no chance to blog (or run for that matter!).

Royal Parks Half was a run of 2 halves as it turned out! First 6-7 miles was fab. Interesting course, lots of switch-backs so you could see and cheer on your mates and managed a 10K PB so at 7 miles everything was looking rosy.

Then the knee went - and the second 6 miles were a bit of a nightmare. Although the knee pain came and went it wasn't really right and at times the only way to keep going was to keep my knee straight - difficult to run in such circumstances! Either way at the end of the day I had achieved 1/2 marathon PB (1:48:06), 2 of the biggest blisters since man thought "there's 13 miles, I quite fancy running that!" and a knee that won't bend. THe best bit waa the following day spent on a plane to Washington followed by a plane to Cinti.

Net - I have not run since and now have a slightly suspicious cough that is threatening to develop into a cold. Love the winter and the fetid, germ breeding grounds that are aeroplanes!

So with that happy thought I shall leave this post for today and come back when I have something more inspiring to write Wink

Hmmmm - overpronating causing pressure on achilles. Structured shoes are doing their job but my foot is still going awry. So orthotics it is. Problem is there's no time prior to Royal Parks to get them made so I have off the shelf which are giving me blisters. Starting to think this running lark is not very good for me after all!!

So aside from the "devil's insoles" the achilles has had trigger point accupuncture, sports massage and ultra sound therapy today. Verdict - I'll get round but I won't be very comfortable! Great!

Despite the blisters I have now done a couple of runs (with the help of Compeed) and achilles at least is more comfortable.

So under 1 week to go! Mental note: Prey for a nice day. Oh! and buy shares in compeeed!

Cool

Hmmm - 4.3 miles yesterday as my return to runing after a week off. Achilles protested every step of the way which was far from impressive. Pretty sure I'm not overtraining so a little concerned now.

Either way off to see my physio on Thursday. Yes I have a physio. There was a clear need for help to keep me in one piece for this running lark and Becks has bravely stepped up. You know  you're injured frequently when the receptionist asks "Which leg is it this time" and follows it up with "BRIEFLY explain your problem". Methinks I go to much.

Fingers crossed that she can trigger point accupuncture it back into life!

Much excitement generated yesterday with the arrival of the Royal Parks race pack.

Impressed by the purple shirt actually - liking the design on the back.

Still no running as resting achilles so training taking a bit of a hit currently.

Anyway hump day tomorrow (downhill to the end of the week from here) and back to running at the weekend.

Enjoy Wink
